New Snow White Pictures Released

Julia Roberts brings the decadence

We may still be waiting to find out an official title for the film, but Relativity Media is making sure we know Tarsem Singh’s take on the Snow White fairy tale is well and truly on the way, releasing two new pictures to Entertainment Weekly that you can scope out in the gallery below.

While the first look at Lily Collins as Snow surfaced around Comic Con, we now have a proper image of Collins and the dwarfs and Julia Roberts as her evil stepmother, the queen. Who clearly enjoys all the trappings of a rich life even as she plots the doom of anyone who dares challenge her standing as the fairest in all the land…

“She’s the cat that ate the canary,” director Singh tells the magazine. “From serial killers to anyone who does evil deeds, they basically have a devil-made-me-do-it excuse, or they hear voices,” he continues. “I decided for the evil queen, this is going to be a person who sees her good self — but there’s a mirror personality.”

And, in keeping with her character, she prefers to let others do her dirty work. “She outsources her evil, just like most people,” says Singh. “I wanted a person who is just schizophrenic. She’s a person who would just do all the evil she needs to do to stay in power.”

As for poor old Snow, she’s a victim of circumstance who ends up teamed with the seven dwarfs to help overthrow her stepmother. “They all train her in different things,” the director says.

There’s more from Singh over at EW. Whatever it ends up being called the new Snow White pic will grace our screens next year. It’s out in the US on March 16, so expect it shortly after that.

Update: People magazine has added a few new images. We’ve pulled out a couple and added them to the gallery above, including Armie Hammer being dashing with a sword and one pic that would surely get Collins into trouble with PETA. Or the RSPB…
